Question is does cisco have any kind of guards that go over those ejector buttons on the modules. In testing today we noticed the fine feature if you happen to accidently hit both of the ejector buttons it will kill the cards without even pulling the card out using the levers . I find this to be extremely dangerous feature if you don't notice one of the levers is already popped out . We also noticed if this accidently happens to the supervisor card it will immediately kill the whole box, not good!! These buttons are very easy to pop if you happen to be connecting up cables or something . So in short if you just happen to hit both ejector buttons it immediately electrically disconnects the card from chassis until you push both levers back in and the card will reboot unless it's the supervisor in which case it seems you have to power cycle the whole box . Anyone feel this is dangerous and whats to prevent this from happening ?

Glen,
I have deployed a few 7010 and never felt that the ejectors can really be a danger (I guess they could). There is some distance between the last port on the card and the ejector. As you said, you have to push both, as one is not going to disconnect the blade.
But I have something else that I think is very annoying. If you put any SFP in the last 4 ports of a fiber blade, it is very hard to take them out as the lever blocks your hand. A few times, I couldn't take the SFP out until I lifted the lever. Likely, it wasn't during production at the time. I don't think, there is anything to cover the ejectors.
BTW, if you push one of the ejectors, there will be a message in the logs.

Hi Glen,
Use the following commands to disabled Ejector options in N7k,
Richard(config)# no hardware ejector enable
Richard# sh mod 2

Thanks Richard I did find that command and tried it. Works on all the modules below the supervisor but the supervisor still has that issue even with the command issued . Certainly better than nothing but you think they would have disabled the function on the supervisor also seeing that will kill the whole box, not real good in a datacenter....They need to rethink that whole option !!

Thanks Richard , that is us . Running 6.1.4 , will have to see if they have the updated one on the download site. Just got done putting it at 6.1.4 . Thought that was weird seeing all the other modules worked right after the command. Thanks for your help .
