Hello folks,
I have a NME-16es-1g mounted in a 2811.
Being profoundly clever I have forgotten the username / password used.
aaa new-model is enabled.
I have tried the password recovery process to no avail.
It presents me with a prompt - switch:
also it offers - ?
boot
cat
copy
delete
dir
flash_int
etc
I have a job interview in two weeks and I have some homework to do.
How do I clear the username and password from this module PLEASE ?

If you do not want to retain the config, you should be doing this from ROMMON:
flash_init
delete flash:config.text
boot

The "switch:" prompt is the devices ROMMON. ROMMON is the Cisco equivalent of BIOS and it is where the password recovery procedure starts for this unit. Follow the steps in this document starting from that point. If you still have trouble let me know.

I have used that document and I might well have reset the enable password , but I still cannot get past the prompt for the username.
I have tried to delete the startup-config using rommon ( switch: ) but the system seems to deny its existence.
I have now reached the limits of my knowledge !!!!

I have done it.
It is really easy when one reads the documentation properly.
I have renamed the "config.text" and now I have clean switch.

Gregory thank you for answering - you are now on my Christmas card list .
