No Port-Security, but static mac addresses appear in table

Hi everyone,

I have multiple stacks of 2960S-48FPS-L switches. 3 or 4 switches per stack.

All are running IOS 15.0(2)SE11

I have multiple devices, some on trunk ports, some on access ports, and they show up in my mac address table as STATIC entries, not DYNAMIC. Other devices do show up as DYNAMIC. I can't find a reason why there is a difference.

But I'm not running port-security, I haven't entered the mac address statically on the interface, and I'm not talking about the CPU entries. I can't clear the mac addresses from the table unless I shut/no shut the port or reload the switch.

Is this a bug?

Why are they showing up as static?

MAB was the answer. MAB apparently puts the authenticated mac address into the MAC Address table as a STATIC entry.
