Ok, this might be simple and could be a licensing issue. I have SVI for several vlans, on vlan between 2 5K's. I can ping back and fourth and can ping the SVI address of the other vlans, but the ip's withing the vlan cannot ping outside and route to the other 5k.
Looking at my routes I see that they are in a "pending state". further investigation I ran "sh forwarding route" and I get back Service not enabled. I am using static routes since we are waiting for an ospf license. Can I NOT do static routes and L3 routing without a special license?
I think I am missing something really easy on this but cannot see it.
thanks!!!!

Does your 5k have a Layer3 Card (N55-D160L3)?

sh inventory shows I have 2 modules installed
Module 1 N5K-C5596UP "02 48X10GE.Modular Supervisor"
Module 2 N55-M160L3-V2 "02 GEM with L3 ASIC"

That is interesting. I have tested out this basic config in a virtual lab and everything works fine. started with the actual hardware and cant get simple routing working. I cannot find anything associated with the "Service not Enabled" when using the sh forward route command. Very strange seeing all the routes in pending state.
I only have licenses on the switches for LAN_base and LAN_enterprise I don't see any license for the actual L3 module.
