I have a 3750G switch with servers plugged into it that have very high throughput between them(200-500Mbs), consisting of primarily multicast traffic. I'm showing a good amount of ouput queue drops on some of the interfaces that have server plugged in...I also recently enabled IGMP snooping, I don't recall if these drops were occuring before I enabled snooping.
My question is, can IGMP snooping cause those drops? Can multicast traffic hit a port that hasn't subscribed to the stream and then get dropped, resulting in an output queue drop? Or is this more likely drops caused by the server not being able to accept the data fast enough?
