Dear All,
I have purchase an SFP transceiver branded LINKSYS model MGBSX1, when i plug it in a Supervisor Engine 32 8GE/Version 12.2(17r)SX3.
I got the following error:
%PM_SCP-SP-3-TRANSCEIVER_UNSUPPORTED: Unsupported transceiver in LAN port 5/6
the interface 5/6 has the following state:
sh int gigabitEthernet 5/6 status
Port Name Status Vlan Duplex Speed Type
Gi5/6 disabled 1 auto 1000 1000BaseSX
and this configuration:
interface GigabitEthernet5/6
switchport
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan 999
shutdown
udld port
macro description giga_ports
spanning-tree link-type point-to-point
spanning-tree guard loop
end
Could you help me pls to understand why the SFP transceiver doesn't work?
Best regards.
Igor.

You can only use "Cisco SFPs"
try
"service unsupported-transceiver"

I am getting the same error
%PM_SCP-SP-3-TRANSCEIVER_UNSUPPORTED: Unsupported transceiver in LAN port 5/1
and also minor alarm is set on slot 5. Is it due to same TRANSCEIVER_UNSUPPORTED error?

Can't put linksys in a cisco system.
Or any other brand for that matter.

You can as Jan said it's just that you won't get any help from the TAC if you have an issue.

I would agree to what Glen said. Using the command is the best bet, however no help from TAC.
Thanks
