Hi, I want to find a gigabit port adapter to my router. I found pa-ge port adpater but this port is for fiber link and I want a gigaport adapter for copper not fiber and I do not find that. Anyone knows a gigabit port for copper?

Hi,

NPE-400 does not support Gig ports.  You need NPE-G1 or G2.

And is there  any requirement to change the processor of the rputet?

I think, it is cheaper to get a router with NPE-G1 or G2 instead of changing the IO card and at the end it may not even work.

But is my router 7204xvr soport npe-g1?

Yes and no.

Yes, your router can support GigabitEthernet (if you don't exceed your bandwidth points).  The question you'd like to ask is "Can my router PUSH 1 Gbps both ways (in and out)?".  Sadly, the answer is "barely".

But I do not understand, Do gigabit port consume bandwidth point? I thought that It not consume bandwidth

Do gigabit port consume bandwidth point?

Not the port.  The line card.  Every line card of the 7200 (including VXR) has bandwidth points.

Again, that's not the argument.  If you happen to find a GigabitEthernet for the router, the router WILL NOT be able to support 1 Gbps speed.   So it's a futile attempt, not to mention, a waste of fine good money.

BTW, often "fiber" (e.g. SFP) ports support copper modules.

As others have noted, a NPE-400 is rather underpowered to support gig ports.  (Wirespeed gig, for minimum sized Ethernet, in just one direction, requires up to 1.488 Mpps, or about 3 Mpps for full duplex.  Consider a NPE-400 offers 400 Kpps, a NPE-G1 1 Mbps, a NPE-G2 2 Mpps, and a NSE-1 3.5 Mpps.)
