When I tested a switch through the web interface of CDM certain ports showed no activity or packet transfer (no clear counters either) yet when I put a Fluke tester on one port that had no activity a link light came up and a ping was successful any ideas why that would be ?.
Also (stupid question) can you stack two 3750G's with just a cat6 cable ?.

I guess the question is after you put the device on the port and pinged it did the counters increment . Not quite sure of your comment . The answer to your second question is just tieing 2 3750's together with a patch cable is not stacking and they are not treated as a single switch .In order to do that you must use the stacking cables to tie them together in the back of the switch . Just tieing them together like you suggest is just daisy chaining them together and they are 2 separate switches...

Thanks for that Glen. Strange thing is I traced the port back to the socket in question and a pc was plugged in and working on it, this is only happening on certain ports see the stats -

Hi,
How can a ping through this interface be successful?
GigabitEthernet1/0/7 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect)
The interface is not sensing anything so a ping through it can't be successful.

My point exactly, yet their is a working PC at the other end !!.
The only thing I can think of is an incorrectly labeled
network socket.

Get the PC's mac-address and then have a look at the mac-address table on the switch and see what port the mac-address is tied to.

Hi Alex,
I had the same problem with some brand new 3750Xs. There was no link light on the port, yet it was passing traffic just fine. TAC attributed it to a bug in the IOS, but at the time there wasn't a newer version of code out yet. I'm running: c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-53.SE2.bin.
