port gi could not join a ethernetchannel on 3885

I try to add a giga port to a port-channel but status port after joining alway Down Not-in-Bndl status:

Port: Gi1/0/3
------------

Port state    = Down Not-in-Bndl
Channel group = 3           Mode = On              Gcchange = -
Port-channel  = null        GC   =   -             Pseudo port-channel = Po3
Port index    = 0           Load = 0x00            Protocol =    -

anyone could tell me what is problem? how to fix this error.

can you provide more information , like the config on both sides currently set ? whats teh far end device

Is there a port-channel already configured your trying to add this to ? if so how many links are currently in it

whats the module your connected into does it definitely support etherchannel
