Power series cabling on Cisco 3750 switches

                   Hi,

I am connecting power cable (series power cables) on 3750 stacks. i have connected them the same way the stack cables are connected i.e. fo rexample on a stack with 3 3750s:

1- fitst slot on fist switch connected the second slot last switch in the stack.

2- second slot/ port on the first switch to the first on second and seoncd on teh second switch to first on the third switch.

this how they are alway been stacked.

Now, I need to connect power cables and I have followed the same method for stacks up to 4 switches. it seems that if a stack has more tham 4 switches, then the cabling will be dofferent!?

I was wondering if you guys can please help me on the cabling scheme for stacks more than 4 siwtches.

Also, do I need any configurations? or just like the stack, the switches will sense them?

Regards,

Masood

Hi Masood,

For power stacking the maximum number of switches is 4.

From the installation guide:

A switch power stack can include a maximum of four switches in a ring topology

Also a couple of links to follow:

Thanks.

I see but i have also heared that through some different cabling scheme we can cable more than 4 switches in a given stack!?

this is what I am looking for because I have an satack of 5 x 3750s.

thanks,

Masood

Hi Masood,

I fyou want to use a StackPower for more than 4 switches you need to use XPS2200 in star topology:

Here are the cabling configurations:
