Problem with 2960-TTL

Dear all,

would like to know if anyone of u experience the following problem.

i'm have 2 units of 2960TTL 24 at my office. and each of it has a port being disable.

when i type sh interface status.

there's an err-disable at the status.

i cant seem to enable it inside CNA.

the error msg in CNA is that

a loopback has been detected and it recommended to run smartport.

both port were initially plugged in with a linksys which, which is no longer connected now.

i've tried to remove configuration on the respective port and the error is still there. should i reset the configuration to factory default?

or the port is faulty?

please advice. thank you.

It seems that port is in err-disable state. To recover it from that state, you need to "shut" and then "no shut" the port.

int fa0/1

shutdown

no shutdown

HTH, rate if it does ...

A port may be put into errordisable state for a lot of reasons ( loopback detected, UDLD, link-flap, PAgp flap, BPDU guard etc)

There are 2 ways to recover from this state.

Either do a shut , no shut on the interface or you should have the following command configured globally

errdisable recovery cause

What you should be really looking at is the cause which is forcing the ports to go errordisable...time to relook at your design so that the incident does not repeat

HTH, rate if it does
