problems add new switch to stack

hi there,

We had an existing stack of 2x 3750s.

I've been trying to add a new 3750 to the stack but I've had problems.

I've upgraded all of the 3750s to the latest IOS.

The first 2 3750s I power up will form a stack, the third won't join the stack. e.g. if I power up one of the old 3750s and the new 3750 they will form a stack. When I port on the last 3750 it doesn't join the stack.

I was wondering if this might be down to not having fully redundant stackwise cabling? See the attached photo. I need to order another cable.

If its not this can anyone suggest what the issue might be?

Cheers,

Huw

Hi,

Did you provision the new switch to be added to the stack?

Do you have the correct priority set up for the master?

Have a look at this doc.  It explains how to add a switch to the stack

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750/software/release/12.2_25_sec/configuration/guide/swstack.html#wp1177470

Please post the following output:

1.  sh version

2.  sh stack detail

I've attached output from both switches.

I will take a look at the document linked.

Cheers for your help!

Can you confirm that the 3rd switch is running 12.2(55)SE3 IOS with IP Services feature set?

Can you power down 3rd switch, attach a console cable, power up and paste the entire bootup process up to the point it will try to join the stack?

Thanks for the help guys. I reseated the stack cables. Wiped the new switch and re-provisioned it according to that doc.

Now all working.

Cheers!
