When I take a real server within my serverfarm that has connections to it and place it out of service, will it drop all the connections to it instantly at that time or will it let them eventually close on their own as the users shut down their connections?
Thanks!

You don't say which IOS you are using but from the 12.2SX SLB config guide -
Does the no inservice command take a resource out of service immediately? | When you use the no form of the inservice command to remove a firewall, firewall farm, real server, or virtual server from service, the resource acquiesces gracefully. No new connections are assigned, and existing connections are allowed to complete. To stop all existing connections for an entire firewall farm or virtual server immediately, use the clear ip slb connectionscommand. |
hmmm. hasn't pasted very well hopefully still makes sense ie. no new connections are allowed but existing ones can complete.

Never used IOS SLB but have used the CSM (Content switch module) in a 6500 and using the "no inservice" did indeed work that way.
