Recently got a L3 switch Catalyst WS-C2960C-8TC-L to do some OSPF routing.
However, I'm not sure whether I need a license or a correct image to enable this thing.
Upon upgrade the IOS to latest, I'm able to type "ip routing."
But when I do "router ospf 10," it says "not in this image"
Where can I find the image url for "http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750/software/release/12-2_44_se/configuration/guide/scg/swiosfs.html#wp1258237" ?
Below are my "show version" and "show license"
Any advice appreciated, and thanks.

The 2960 can only do basic Static Routing, i.e InterVlan routing.
As far as I am aware, it cannot do any dynamic routing, regardless of the licence/image.

I know 2960x switches can do basic ospf , i thought the 8TC-Ls had this option as well for a ip lite/ip base image license , definitly no ip services full license available , if its available you will be stuck to learning around 200 routes and only 1 process , this doc below says the 2960c supports ip base but you never know till you check if its still available

Q. What features does IP Lite bring to the 2960-XR switch models?
● Routing Information Protocol (RIP) v1
● Routing Information Protocol (RIP) v2
● Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) v2 Routed Access
● Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) v3 Routed Access
● Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) stub
● Equal-cost routing
● Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP)
● Protocol Independent Multicast PIM (Sparse Mode, Dense Mode, Sparse Dense Mode, Source Specific Multicast) stub
● Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) for IPv4
● Private VLAN
● IPv6 First Hop Security source guard
● Per-VLAN and per-port policers

Right, I saw it support ospf before purchasing.
Now I'm struggling to activate it.
Thanks.

did you buy a license for it, routing options are not free with a layer 2 switch , lanbase would come free but not ipbase you would need to get a PAL off Cisco and apply the license to the switch
ip routing command your trying to perform above will not be available until this is applied and switch reloaded

Upon upgrading the OS, I can enable by using "ip routing"
By can't go further.
I did indeed tried to ask everyone including reseller, Cicso itself, etc to get the part number (if it even exists) needed to activate ospf.
Hence I resort to this forum, haha.

did he give you a license or a link to download it from with PAK code
you would then go to this link below
https://tools.cisco.com/SWIFT/LicensingUI/Home
provide your pak number they give you the license then you back to switch import it to your flash and run license install
this would then activate your ip routing
this is for nexus but its same process for nearly every platform

Nope no license.
I usually do the PAK process when I know the part #, purchase, then redeem to get a license file to load up on the device.
Thanks a lot though for your effort in helping/replying.

that is correct.
Just confirmed with Cisco TAC.
Should never rely on 3rd party description but only from Cisco data sheet
