rapid-pvst not functioning correctly?

Hey guys,

I have 4 x cisco 3750g-12s in the following config attached diagram.

Im running rpvst on all the switches and something seems to be incorrect with the config.

As topology is in a loop providing redundancy from what i understand one port should be in a blocking state.

I have checked all the switches and none show blocking for a port. I am trying to ping from 3 switch to switch 2 however its taking the long way round to arrive and the switch. If I pull the port down on switch 3 connected to switch 4. I lose connectivity completly and have to have the switch rebooted.

What am i missing here please?

Thanks in advance

a

thanks !

Hello,

If you checked all switches and there is no port in blocking state, then you have a nice loop in your switching Network.

Or, you have connectivity problem between your Switches, So that every switch believes it the root bridge for VLAN 1 and would therfor place all its port in forwarding state.

check the physical connectivity of the switches and make sure one of the ports is in blocking state. At this point, if you unplug a cable , the traffic should be redirected to the other path.

Regards,

Mohamed
