Recovery time "VSS Quad-Sup"

Hi,

I'm doing some fine-tuning research for my thesis on Virtual Switching.

Can anybody help me with the recovery times concerning VSS Quad-Sup?

The scenario goes like this..

"The active supervisor of the active virtual switch fails. The in-chassis standby will then take over."

Question now is: how long does this take? I've done some research but I can't find it anywhere..

Hoping someone can help me with this information.

Grtz,

Krisje

In the current deployment the in-chassis standby won't take over, the redundant supervisor is only there for redundancy from a hardware failure.  Quad SSO functionality won't be coming out until 15.1(1)SY that's targeted for November 2012.

When it does come out and the standby takes over the downtime is minimal.  All hardware entries are preserved between the active and standby.  So the actual blip on the network is very small.
