Hi,
we have two cat 6509 switches and 47 cat 3750 switches as access witches. we are spread over 14 floors. Some of the floors require additional switches due to port saturation . we are planning to add additional switches . Initial plan was to add cat 3850 switches . But due to budgetary constraints , looking for less expensive switches. So the natural choice was cisco cat 2960 xr which has layer 3 capability, since we need inter vlan routing . we may need additional 7 switches . or the other option is to replace the whole switches with 2960 xr . will there be any performance degradation ? ours is a converged network . Are this switches compliant with latest cisco technologies ?

Hello,
I don't know of course how tight your budget is, but instead of the 2960XR you might want to consider going the Catalyst 9200 path. Have a look at the article below. The 9200 is much more future proof...

And what "latest Cisco technologies" will the network require?

mainly software defined networking . similar features of 9300 /9200 switches . not the over all stacked output.
