Hi,
I'm getting ready to replace some of the Virtual Gateways (VG224) at one of my sites and have a few concerns:
Thanks,

Yahya,
Hope you doing well...
V is standing for VOICE, not virtual. So vg224 will be voice gateway224. The answers for your quastion will be...
1- Yes, it's sufficient.
2- CUCM administration page > device > gateway > find. Then select your gateway, change mac address ( 10 digits ) of the old device with the new one.
3- with using sccp protocol, CUCM don't care about ip address, it's only care about mac address. So the answer will be, NO .
hope that could help

Hi,
First you have to tell us in which protocol did your vg224 works on ??
05-10-2016 06:08 AM
I use SCCP for my protocol.
Thanks for your anticipated assistance.

Hi, and thanks for your reply.
Upon replacing the VG224 none of the analog phones registered on the CUCM. I ran sh sccp on the new VG224 and received "SCCP application services(dspfarm profiles) are not enabled or haven't associated to SCCP CCM group". I tried to reset the SCCP (no sccp/sccp) and that didn't seem to fix the issue.
I copied the original configuration exactly as is to the new VG224, only thing I changed was the passwords, would that be the reason?
Thanks again for your help.

Hi,
The answer to your question number (2), did you worked with it ?
05-24-2016 04:20 AM
Hi Saif,
Yes, I did change the MAC address in the CUCM to the new VG224.
Thanks for your kind support.

Yahya,
Cisco vg224 have 2 fastethernet port on its back, did you connect the same interface as the old one ? If yes, then please upload the running configuration of the device here. It will be easier to troubleshoot.

Yes, used same port (Fa0/0) as the old VG224 with same configs and IP addresses. I know that network and vlan routing is not the issue here as I can ping all sides from the new VG224 just fine and the old VG224 works fine when I put it back in place.
See current configuration below, and thanks again for your help.

Thank you Saif. I spent endless hours troubleshooting an analog phone registration failure and all I had to do was conf t -> stcapp. So Simple. THANK YOU.
