I am using IP sla ICMP tracking so that I can rollover to another route when my main route is down. I am testing this in a lab with 2 other 3845 routers. When I shutdown the interface so that it rolls over to another interface, the timeout takes about 2 - 3 minutes. Using the track command shows that the link is "Up" even when disconnected. Anyone know how to make the response to "Down" quicker so that it failover faster?

You can alter the frequency of the pings.

What command do you use to alter the ping frequency? Also, would we have to alter the time of the "age out" so that the routing table gets updated?

I recommend becoming familiar with the documentation:

As for the routing table, the answer depends upon the routing protocol of use. Most routing protocols will withdraw the learned networks from the routing table as soon as the interface or neighbor drops its reachability. That's called a trigger update.
