Hello,

I have a 1841 router that is not responding to any input command on console. Router boots up normal and shows all logs on window but stops when i try to start configuring it. Also have tried it on rommon and same issue its not taking any command.

Has anybody else had this issue?

Attached you can find photos of process and where it stops

Hello,

Thank you for your reply, i have tried all kind of putty and other emulators and still same issue. When i turn on the device and its connected with console it shows me all booting process and information's and after it boots up and i try to put commands it doesn't respond anymore. Same thing also happens when i remove flash to put it to rommon mode.

Maybe you have any other idea?

Since you are getting legible output during the boot process it indicates that the speed setting is correct. (incorrect speed setting is one of the most common causes of not being able to communicate using the console connection) So we need to look for something else. If the prompt is do you want to enter the configuration dialogue it indicates that it is ignoring the startup config, perhaps because the config register has been set to 0x2142. Perhaps when you are in rommon you could use the password recovery process to set the config register to 0x2102 and see if that makes any difference.

Another possibility might be that the cable you are using to connect to the console might have a problem, so that it can receive but not transmit. If you use this console cable on another router does it work correctly? Do you have another console cable that you could try?

I dont think there is a startup issue. Router boots up normaly but dont allow to put any comand. In user mode and also when i boot it on rommon. Do t acept any input comand in both scenarios.

As per the description and message, the device booting the first time, at this stage there is some physical issue I suspect console cable., if your another device please check with other devices, or borrow other cables and test it.

when you power down the router, then turn it back on and press the <BREAK> key wthin 60 seconds, does that get you into ROMMON ?

No it didnt do anything. it continued boot process and after booted up is stuck asking if want to continue initial conf dialog and not taking any input.
