Routing on the 3560CG

HI

I have  a 3560CG, but when I enabled IP routing on it I got this error:

%PLATFORM_UCAST-3-INV_SDM: IP routing configured with invalid SDM template.

As far as i can see the platform does not support routing, but it that true.

It is a 3560CG-8PC with ipbase.

The current template is "default" template.
The selected template optimizes the resources in
the switch to support this level of features for
8 routed interfaces and 1024 VLANs.

number of unicast mac addresses: 4K
number of IPv4 IGMP groups + multicast routes: 0.25K
number of IPv4 unicast routes: 0.875k
    number of directly-connected IPv4 hosts: 0.875k
number of indirect IPv4 routes: 0

Rasmus

Hi

can you not change the SDM try below see what options you have ?

(config)#sdm prefer ?
  default          Default bias
  lanbase-routing  Lanbase routing

Hi Mark

Thank you for your reply.

I cannot change the SDM template

The SDM template used by Catalyst 3560-C Gigabit Ethernet switch is a default template and is not configurable.

sorry compact you need ipservices as per doc

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-3560-cx-series-switches/datasheet-c78-733229.html

Cisco Catalyst 3560-CX compact switches ship with the IP Base version of Cisco IOS® Software. The 3560-CX switches can be upgraded to use the IP Services version of IOS Software with a right-to-use (RTU) License. The
IP Base and IP Services feature set on Cisco Catalyst 3560-CX switches provides baseline enterprise services in addition to all LAN Base features. They support Layer 3 networking features, including support for routed access, Cisco TrustSec, media access control security (MACsec), and other advanced network services. The IP Services feature set provides full Layer 3 routing capabilities with Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Enhanced Internal Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Policy-Based Routing (PBR), Multicast Routing, and Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) Lite.

I have a 3560CX with the IP Services licens, and that one works great with OSPF without any problems.

The documentation says:

  • IP Base: Enterprise-access Layer 3 switching, including Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) for routed access

But this is a 3560CG the old model of the compact switches, and not the CX models.

the CG is available in ipservcies too and if ip routing is not on ipbase it will be on that same as the newer version CX , ipservices is the highest available image for those platforms all 3560s not just compact
