SDM Fails to start

Greetings,

Just pulled the 1811 router out of the box, received an address on the 10.10.10.x network, and pointed a browser at https://10.10.10.1. I was prompted to login with the default cisco/cisco credentials, which it accepts, then it opens another window, prompts to accept a cert again, and presents a java login. I provide the same credentials.

The app then opens a browser window titled "ES Startup Error", with a detail something like:

ES Startup Error

Application ES has not been granted with the necessary privileges in order to startup successfully, or another unknown error occurred during startup. Please close all involved browser windows and try again by granting all requested privileges.

Any ideas?

Whoops!

This from the release notes was the fix:

SDM on PC May Not Launch under Windows XP with Service Pack 2

When SDM is installed on a PC running Windows XP with Service Pack 2, Internet Explorer may display HTML source code when you attempt to launch SDM. To fix this problem, go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced. Then scroll to the Security section, check Allow active content to run in files on my computer, and click Apply. Then relaunch SDM.

Hi

What is ur OS on PC.

Regards

JD

i'm was having the same problems and solved it now. i adjusted IE options/advanced as per this post and voila! but you also need to follow my pre-setup instructions in my post. you can setup any usr/pwd as well on the router config. i have a couple of teething errors with IE and need to iron this out now and have posted it on my post "brand new 1721 and SDM cd" in the network security forum. hope someone can help me there.

if anyone has SDM setup problems, maybe use my post as well "brand new cisco 1721 and SDM cd" as a guide. i initially, set static ip on fa 0 as 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.248 (but i think it can be anything), secondly, setup your own usr/pwd on the router like so, username sdm privilege 15 password 0 sdm, then as per my post, enable http & https server on the router, and if it still doesnt work configure vty as per my post as well. good luck to you.

where is this post of yours?
