I have not tried that before, but on an interface can we have the primary IP address and the secondary IP address on the same subnet,
for example
interface fast0/0
ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
ip address 10.1.1.2 255.255.255.0 sec
Will the router accept this configuration?

Hi Ahmede,
Yes it will accept this configuration and will not prompt for any error message.

Hi Ahmed,
certainly it will accept the secondary ip address not only with the same subnet also with different subnet, but i couldn't understand why u wanted to have the same subnet IP address rather than having different subnet ip address?
