If im joining 2 serials together, what clockrate should I use, I have a 2 meg internet connection, I have used 64000 but the connection seems to be alot slower, can i make this faster ?

Yes, you should be able to set it to the approximate limit supported by your hardware in your case near 1500000 ( 1.5 Mbps ) should be OK .
