sfp compatibility with each other???

i recently connected a sfp between my 3560 switch and my 6500 core switch , my 3560 logs showed this " %PHY-4-SFP_NOT_SUPPORTED: The SFP in Gi0/27 is not supported" what does this mean? is the sfp model itself not supported by the switch or there is a incompatibility issue between the two sfp? i have been told that both sfp need to be either SR"shor range" or LR"long range " but i cant see it written on the sfp ? both models have the following writing on them:

on the 3560 (DS-SFP-FC4G-SW)

on the 6500 (1000BASE-SX)

any ideas?

I don't see this as a supported sfp on the 3560 ? the SX is supported on 6500

DS-SFP-FC4G-SW is for an MDS switch
