Dear Experts

i would like to know that if i use GLC-ZX-SMD in lab purpose environment connecting switches within 3 mtrs SM patch cords , they will get damaged it is mandatory for them to have a long distance.

should be ok for testing i guess. to check the SFP working ? is this correct ?

Hi,

Using a short cable for testing should not damage the optic. I have also used short cables with 10Gig SM optics for testing with no issues.
