I have not so advanced but also not used sg550-28p cisco switch. Our college has obtained it as a donation from a sponsor.
It was unpacked and looks like completely not used and new device. The switch was switched on with serial blue cable and putty terminal. But the following message with FATAL ERROR has appeared cyclically during initial booting.
Does anybody from cisco community could advise me what to do? Has sg550-28p linux based os any possibility to interrupt the booting and repair linux os based files?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi
Have you upgraded the image recently?

I have not experienced this issue before but I suggest open the case with the Small Business Switches section:
Hope it is useful

thank you but sg350-28p has not provided me with any chance to upgrade or to do anything :-) I can only observe the endless booting process :-)

Thank you, I think it should be escalated to the Small Business secction to get a better answer. If you have the warranty it could be replaced.
:-)

Thank you and I escalated the topic to the Small Business section without any possibility to replace this lucky device from cisco. Because it was just a donation ...

I found the same problem but no any feedback

I recently ran into the same issue that was raised above. I was able to recover the switch by interrupting the boot process by pressing "x" to choose XMODEM and transferring the Cisco image 2.1.0.63 over to the switch via an XMODEM transfer. In order to accomplish this, you have to have a direct connection from a laptop via console and application which supports the ability to transfer files using XMODEM (not XMODEM 1K) protocol. The process is similar to the recovery process for other Cisco Switches when an Image file is not accessible.
