shutting down interface vlan

If i shutdown the interface vlan by interface vlan 20 shut Then, would this shut down layer 2 vlan as well? If two hosts are connected vlan 20, will they able to communicate each other?

If you shutdown interface vlan 20 then that is the layer 3 communication you are disabling. Hosts would still be able to communicate within the same vlan but there would be no routing that could occur between vlans.

Shutting down vlan 20 would be layer 2 communication that you would disable.
