[Solved] Catalyst C2960s reboot

Xavier RICOL
Level 1
Level 1

Hi,

We have a stack with 2 C2960S-48TS-L and 1 C2960S-24TS-L. Monday we upgraded the stack with the latest firmware 15.0(2)SE8-UNIVERSALK9.

Since then, 2 switches of the stack reboot twice or more by day. Without any action.

We upgraded another stack, with the same switches, and no reboot since the upgrade:

I find nothing in the events.

Could you please help us ?

Kind regards

Cedric

The switch crashed to due excessive amount of MAC flapping.  This is generally caused when the ports are not configured for EtherChannel.

If your company's most senior network engineer didn't work this out for himself, then you'd better get someone to manage the network properly.

I find nothing in the events.

Do NOT use CNA.

Remote into the stack and post the complete output to the following commands:

1.  dir flash2:

2.  dir flash3:

Thanx for your answer.

I'm sorry i'm a newbie, my coworker who is certified is on holiday.

Do you mean to plug directly on one of the switch and type the command in hyperterminal, please ?

Cedric

I'm sorry i'm a newbie, my coworker who is certified is on holiday.

If you want to learn Cisco, then now is the chance.

Do you mean to plug directly on one of the switch and type the command in hyperterminal, please ?

Yes.  It's not rocket science.  The outputs I'm looking for a "show" commands and are non-disruptive.

I downloaded the USB To Serial Driver, installed it, i plugged the mini usb wire, i launched hyperterminal, i choose the right port (COM5), i changed the values (9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow control ). But the connection is refused? Do i need to restart the switch ?

I tried another port (COM1) which is the port on my motherboard, i can connect !! But i can't write anithing (logical).

Cedric

Well, the C2960S-24TS-L reboot once again, but always impossible to connect to console.

if your struggling with console access perhaps you could try and log in via ssh/telnet from another device in the network

Finally i succeeded, i post the results above.

Hello,

I successed to connect, but i must wait, i have all the events that pass, since january !

Finally i have the results of the 2 commands:

Ok, the contents of these two sub-directories are what I'm interested in.

Post the complete output to the following commands:

1.  dir flash2:crashinfo;

2.  dir flash2:crashinfo_ext

I also would like to know if the stack's time and date settings are automatically configured for NTP or not, so I'd like to see the output to the command "sh clock".

OK:

SW_DATAS_01#dir flash2:crashinfo

Ok, can you attach the three files into this thread?  I want to see them.

Could you please help me a little to do it?

I have a ftp server, with administrateur as username.

I tried to use the command ip ftp username to add the username, but invalid input detected.

Use TFTP instead.

Command:  copy flash:/crashinfo_ext/crashinfo_ext_32 tftp://<TFTP IP address>/crashinfo_ext_32
