SPAN config question

Hi

When the source of your span is (for example) a multi-gig port-channel, how do you send this to your destination if you are not able to configure a port-channel for a destination?

For example, if you have 4 ports that comprise the source port-channel, you cannot send on to a single gig port desination (well you could but it would be a bit pointless).

What do people do?

Ultimately we are moving to 10Gb where this problem will go away, but in a GigE world I'd be interested to know what people are doing.

thanks

Hello,

Actually on 6k:

From Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(33)SXH and later, PortChannel interface can be a destination port. Destination EtherChannels do not support the Port Aggregation Control Protocol (PAgP) or Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) EtherChannel protocols; only the on mode is supported, with all EtherChannel protocol support disabled.

Otherwise just hope that Po rate would be less then 1GB.

Hope this helps,

Nik
