Hi Everyone.

On  Flat Layer 2 Network if Distribution switch has uplink to Core switch.

This Uplink port  on distribution is Root Port.

Core Switch port going to Distribution switch is shown as STP FWD state.

Will it cause slowness issues to users who are connected to network on Distribution switch?

As per my undertstanding core should be STP Root for all the Vlans right?

If needed how can i make core switch port as root  port ?

Thanks

MAhesh

Hi,

a root port is a designated port( so forwarding port)  on a non-root bridgewhich has the lowest root path cost to the root bridge. So there is nothing abnormal here and your core should be the root bridge if you run STP between distribution and Core as you apparently do.

Regards.
