Stack Switches 3750 doesn't have compatible IOS

Hi All,

At our office we have 4 Stack Switches, Details Below:

CORE-STACK#sh ver | i Model number

Model number : WS-C3750V2-48PS-S
Model number : WS-C3750V2-48PS-S
Model number : WS-C3750-48PS-S
Model number : WS-C3750-48PS-S

And Current IOS is :

CORE-STACK#sh ver
Cisco IOS Software, C3750 Software (C3750-IPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.2(55)SE5, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Now we have purchased a new 3750-x switch (Since 3750 Model is decommissioned), Details are Below:

SW5#sh ver | i Model number
Model number : WS-C3750X-48PF-S
sw5.india#

And Current IOS is :

SW5#sh ver
Cisco IOS Software, C3750E Software (C3750E-IPBASEK9-M), Version 15.0(2)SE10, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)

But this switch is not supporting the existing IOS (2.2(55)SE5), Going to Roman Mode.

And we let with no options now, Currently we have connected them via Ethernet cable as a temporary solution.

Could you please advice what else we can do to get the new switch stacked ?? Shall we upgrade all four Switches to "15.0(2)SE10" Version ?? Does it supports ??

Do we have Any other Alternative IOS which would support for both Hardware ??

Thanks in Advance !!!

Thanks & Regards,

Prasanna Kumar Desireddy

Not remotely possible.  The two WS-C3750-48PS (no "V2") does not have enough flash memory to support 15.X.

The "least common denominator" for all three models is 12.2(55)SE train.  All three sub-models can support 12.2(55)SE.  Upgrade to the latest one.

Hi Leo,

First of all, Thanks for responding !!!

Do you mean we have to upgrade SW5 to 12.2(55)SE ? We have already tried it - SW5 is going to ROMON mode with this IOS Version.

Do we have any IOS Version which does supports all 3 sub models ??

Thanks & Regards,

Do we have any IOS Version which does supports all 3 sub models ??

That's what I'm saying.  The only IOS version where all 3 sub-models can support is 12.2(55)SE train where 12.2(55)SE11 is the latest (and final) version.

We have already tried it - SW5 is going to ROMON mode with this IOS Version.

Console into SW5 and boot.  I want to see the entire boot-up process.  I want to see the error messages.

Thanks,

So we can have 12.2(55)SE11 for all 3 Submodels ? We have tried with 12.2(55)SE5 !!

SW5 is currently having IPBASE IOS and CORE is having IPSERVICESK9 IOS.

Does SW5 Supports IPSERVICESK9 12.2(55)SE11 ?? Anyway i will try this !!!

Thanks & Regards,

Does SW5 Supports IPSERVICESK9 12.2(55)SE11 ??

Yes and no.  The 3750 image come in IPBase or Universal.  The latter supports running as IPBase or IPServices, which depends on installed license.

As you have IPServices images on your older switches, believe you'll want to load the universal image.  I don't think you need to upgrade the license on your 3750X, as I believe the IPService images on the other older 3750s in that stack, should run one of them as stack master with IPServices.
