Would like to know if I can stack both the model as one. Stack WS-C3850-48U-S with WS-C3850-48U-L?

Please share if there is any limitation.

Hi,

3850 switches supporting stacking of multiple 3850 models in same license. but since you have 2 licenses in two models, it cannot be stacked together.

Hi Kasun,

Thanks for your rely, this mean that need to have the same exactly model WS-C3850-48U-S with WS-C3850-48U-L.  Even a different in S and L.  Can you share the different between them.

Hi

 Take a look here:

"

Prerequisites for Switch Stacks

All the switches in the switch stack need to be running the same license level as the active switch. For information about license levels, see the System Management Configuration Guide (Catalyst 3850 Switches).

All switches in the switch stack need to be running compatible software versions.

Restrictions for Switch Stacks

The following are restrictions for your switch stack configuration:

  • Switch stacks running the LAN Base license level do not support Layer 3 features.
  • A switch stack can have up to nine stacking-capable switches connected through their StackWise-480 ports.
  • You cannot have a switch stack containing a mix of Catalyst 3850 and Catalyst 3650 switches"

So, aside from that you can stack. Is not the S and L the problem if that what concern you.
