Hi All!

We have an interesting proble!

4 pcs stacked WS-C3750X-48PF-L rebooted (Power outage).
After reboot, 3 member is okay, 1 member lost.

This stack is running ~1,5 year, without restart.

We checked the failed member, and switch type is changed!!!!

What?? how is it possible?!

I removed all configuration (clear flash), but not changed.

What happened?This is Fake cisco switch? or what?

This is a known "bug".

I have seen that output before.

And what is the solution?

I couldn't find a solution!

solution:

  • Boot switch into rommon
  • check settings:
    switch: set
    !=-
    SDM_TEMPLATE_ID=0
    SWITCH_NUMBER=4
    SWITCH_PRIORITY=15
    SYSTEM_DOWNSHIFT_CFG=1
    SYSTEM_DOWNSHIFT_COUNTER_CFG=3
  • some settings is not found, e.g:
    MODEL_NUM=WS-C3750X-48PF-L
    MODEL_REVISION_NUM=T0
    VERSION_ID=V06
  • set MODEL_NUM, and MODEL_REVISION_NUM:
    e.g:
    set MODEL_NUM WS-C3750X-48PF-L
  • boot device

after boot, switch model number is good:
cisco WS-C3750X-48P (PowerPC405) processor (revision T0) with 262144K bytes of memory.

I still had to licence downgrade (ip to lan), and stack is working again!

Thx your help!

Thanks a lot, it works for me:
Ronmon State and enter:

set MODEL_NUM WS-C3750X-48PF-E
MODEL_REVISION_NUM=T0
VERSION_ID=V06
switch: flash _init
boot

After that, connect stack cables, configure priority on others switches and then reload

Regards!!

Sure this happens because some of the devices have longer uptime, so always need to prepare to have a console to get access and fix the issue if any issue encountered like this, good to know all is resolved.

Looks cosmetic bug, if this is not effecting Services, ignore it.

when you get chance and maintenance window upgrade to  15.2.4E10 and test it.
