Stacking Gig Switches

Hi - I have a 2948-GE-TX switch. I need to stack it with another of the exact same switch, and a new 2960G 48-port switch, using fiber. Would i use SFP modules (GLC-SX-MM)? Will I need four (one for the "top" and "bottom" switches, two for the "middle" switch)?

Any insights into how to configure would also be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you

Just depends on how you want to set it up. If you are going to use redundant paths then you'll need 4 SFPs, if not, you'll only need 2. I imagine you're going to create a star topology. Unless you're covering ALOT of distance, the SX-MM will work fine. If you've got a long distance to cover, go with the LX-MM.

Thanks Adam. I don't want redundant paths, and all the switches are in the same rack. Since i have three switches, i can't use only 2 SFP's correct?

Joe, yes you would need 4 SX-MM SFPs and 2 MM fibers. Alternatively you can also have a look at 50CM gigabit uplink cable if the switches are mounted one below the other. This cable comes with two SFPs attached to the ends.

Thank you so much for your help. It is appredciated.
