Hello,
I am looking for some clarification on stack wising 4 Cisco switches (C9500-40X-A).
The initial solution had only 2 switches to stackwise in two different buildings (one pair in each building), now the customer is asking to stackwise all the 4 switches so as to bring all of them in one zone. Both the buildings are adjacent to each other. As per my understanding, 4 numbers of C9500-40X-A cannot be stackwised. Is there an alternate solution to bring them all in one zone? Could you please advise?
The cisco switches has already arrived the customer place and we are in the configuration stage now.
Thanks.

Hello
That particular model of switch support stackwise-virtual as such you would be applicable to stack them when they are both situated in separate buildings

VSS on a 9400/9500/9600 only up to TWO units.
VSS, Stackwise, Stackwise Virtual are the same. VSS is the term used for stacks running Cisco IOS. Stackwise/Stackwise Virtual are only for appliances running IOS-XE.

Your understanding of Cisco StackWise Virtual is correct. The Cisco Catalyst 9500 Series with Network Advantage License supports StackWise Virtual with a 2-node topology. As you have all the hardware at your place, you can set up two StackWise Virtual and then configure a port-channel between them.

Let me add to my first response: What exactly are you trying to do?
One of the biggest limitation to the Catalyst 9500 and VSS is the limitation of TWO (2) chassis.
What happens if you need more ports and one has used up all 48 ports in one (or both) pairs?
This is where Catalyst 9600 comes in. It is a chassis-based system with multiple slots. It is geared up for dense 25- and 40 Gbps with medium-level of 100 Gbps ports. And it comes with multiple slots.
