Static MAC 3750X with no configuration

Interesting issue.

In reading the following doc

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750x_3560x/software/release/15.0_1_se/configuration/guide/swadmin.html#wp1063713

I understand the difference between dynamic and static mac, however, when looking at the switch mac table I see the following:

  72    0011.0aea.ae0f    STATIC      Gi2/0/48

  72    0011.25a3.adb8    STATIC      Gi2/0/46

  72    001a.1ecd.370e    STATIC      Gi2/0/18

  72    001a.a0db.e629    STATIC      Gi2/0/8

  72    001e.4f4a.7c71    STATIC      Gi2/0/47

  72    0022.1933.4101    STATIC      Gi2/0/45

What causes these to be static mac entries when these were not manually configured?  If I move a machine from one interface to another the mac will follow and will again be seen as static?

Hi Rick,

static MAC addresses are addresses which are configured on switch for port security.

Dynamic MAC addresses are learned when frame arrives on switch.

So probably port-security is applied on switch.

Best regards,

Jan
