Can you have a static route on your Nexus 7000 core switches that traverses the VPC to the Nexus 5,000's and then across the VPC to a device (maybe a single attached firewall) on a Cisco FEX?
I know there are strict rules regarding routing over a VPC, but from what I have personally read, they are rather vague.
Thanks!

Assuming the peering SVI is sitting on the N7K since you've mentioned the static route is configured on the N7K. Then the answer is no, it is not a supported design.

Peering svi?
There is no peering, I'm asking if having a next-hop address that is accessable through a vPC is supported.
Yes, the SVI would be on the Nexus, and the next hop would be a mac on that vlan, but there is no peering going on.

Sorry, not a real peering. Meaning on the Nexus is on a SVI. If Nexus is on a SVI, the answer is no, it is not supported.
