Hi, I have some simple question,
Can I use this subnet mask on my routing vlan interface
Interface vlan 2
ip address 10.5.0.1 255.255.254.0
and my Windows client net scope will have aprox. 512 ip address

Well the choice of SNM will actually depend on the number of network and host that you will need on your network.
yes. choosing this SNM will provide you around 512 IP addresses.. but remember that the valid ip address is only 510 as 2 of them will be reserved.
one for netowrk ID: which would be in this case 10.5.0.0/23
and the other is your broadcast which would be 10.5.1.255
