sup 720 incompatibility

Dear all,

I have 2 ,WS-SUP720-3B ilnstalled in 6509 and one failed,.Can i replace this one with WS-SUPT20-3BXL ???Both ups are in the same machine.

As fare as I know the XL part i only that the card has more memory that a non XL.

They should work together

Hi,

I am sorry to say that Cisco requires for redundancy to be supported the supervisor engine, the routing engine, and the forwarding engine models must be same on both Sup720 modules. While WS-SUP720-3B uses PFC3B forwarding engine WS-SUP720-3BXL includes PFC3BXL forwarding engine. As for the Cisco rules you cannot use one type of PFC (PFC3A, PFC3B or PFC3BXL) on one supervisor engine and a different type on other supervisor engine for redundancy.
