I am looking for options to upgrade the existing Cisco 4507R switch to a higher end model. The options I have considered is
1) Cisco 4507R+E with Sup 7-E
2) Cisco 6509-E with Sup720
But in the backplane capacity , the Sup 7-E shows as 848 Gbps and Sup 720 shows as 720 Gbps. Is my understanding correct ?
Any Suggestions

re: suggestions:
There's more to consider than just fabric bandwidth. From a performance perspective, there's also bandwidth to particular cards and/or card ports. There's also PPS performance. There's IOS features. Lastly, there's also what your card options are.
PS:
To get the full performance out of the latest 4500 components, you might not want to reuse any current components.

Thanks All...
If I am not planning to use any service modules and only gigabit line cards, is it a good option to consider 4507R+E with Sup7-E rather than going with 6509-E with Sup720 ?
Am thinking from the cost perspective also..Please suggest

If cost is a concern it would be better to go with 4507R+E with Sup7-E. In fact this combination would give you more per slot bandwidth than 6500. 4507R+E with Sup7-E will give you 48 Gig/slot , nonblocking Gig port while using a 48 port gig module. 4748 modules are mandatory for 48 gig/slot bandwidth. You would save approx 20-35 % cost as well.
