Switch 1k led and sfp port

  • "We have purchased 15 Cisco Catalyst 1000 switches, and all of them are exhibiting a variety of strange issues. Despite the switches and interfaces being up and running, the LED indicators are not functioning as expected. Additionally, when connecting an SFP while the device is powered off and then powering it on with the console connected, only 10 interfaces are detected. Furthermore, connecting an SFP to port 25 causes port 28 to go into an err-disable state, even though there is no SFP connected to port 28. We have attempted to resolve this issue by updating the firmware, but the problem persists. Moreover, some switches exhibit unusual SFP behavior, with some SFPs not lighting up at all, while others have all SFPs lit, regardless of whether there is a physical connection. This behavior is inconsistent and perplexingScreenshot_20240817-224909.jpg

         >.... connecting an SFP to port 25 causes port 28 to go into an err-disable state
                        - Check the logs on the switch when that happens ,

How to check logs

     - Issue the (CLI) command show logging on the switch (just after a port get's err-disabled)

I dont have stack port or stack i do reset

But in the log show stack

(from logs)   >...%PHY-4-CHECK_SUM_FAILED: SFP EEPROM data check sum failed for SFP interface Gi1/0/28
Remove and reinsert the SFP. If you get the same error  again in the same way, the SFP (for this port) may be defective
===> replace it with another one.

+ Check logs again afterwards to check if the problem has gone away or not

@marce1000 what about this the switch is 24 port but just i see 10

When I remove the SFP module and restart the device, the switch shows 24 ports. However, when I reconnect the SFP module, only 10 ports are displayed. Additionally, the SFP module status shows as 'Connected,' but the LED does not light up.

@marce1000I obtained a new Multi-Mode SFP module, connected it, and the switch functioned normally. Is there a way to temporarily use a faulty SFP module? Buying and receiving a new one will take time, and I need to deliver a project urgently."

 - The switch can not be used with a faulty SFP module.
