I recently changed jobs and at the new location we are primarily running Catalyst 2960G series switches with the exception of one 3750. All of the switches are setup in a cluster with the 3750 being the cluster master. My question is what is the benefit of switch clustering? The entire network seems to be a bit over engineered for the our needs and I am hoping to scale it back a bit. For example, the the network was setup with VOIP QoS when there were no plans to even use VOIP. Also what procedures would I want to follow to disable the cluster to avoid any major outages? Assuming there is no real need for a cluster. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
