Switch port scanning for free ports

Hi,

I have a requirement of some free ports from an existing access switch in out network environment. I have collected the information of free ports based on the below interface counter statistics.

Last input never, output never, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters never

However, this switch got rebooted few weeks ago. so my question is,

1. Will the last input/output counter reset itself when the switch got rebooted? or can we consider this port has never been used even before the reboot of the switch?

Due to the COVID19, users never used the office since last one year. But this switch is running last 4 years. Kindly clarify my doubt please. Thanks in advance.

Of course.  The counter goes back to "0".

try this command good :

sh interfaces | include line protocol | [0-9].[y+w]

sh interface | inc line protocol | Last input never, output never

sh interfaces | inc line protocol | [3-9].[y+w]

we use automated script to get information and generate report based on the outcome (out of the box)

Hi Balaji,

Thanks for this useful commands.

no worries, i have missed some comments - when you reload the device it hard to get right statistics due to switch uptime is very short, you need to get wait for 7 days to get port results. - until you doing contstant report as a base line port report - before reboot take place.
