According to the bulletin at this link:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps637/prod_eol_notice09186a008032d4dc.html
the replacement for WS-C3524-XL-EN is " The recommended replacement product for the Cisco Catalyst 3524-PWR XL Switch is the Catalyst 3550-24 PWR Intelligent Ethernet Switch. The Catalyst 3550-24 PWR Switch is available with either the Standard Multilayer Software Image (SMI) or the Enhanced Multilayer Software Image (EMI)." and the same recommendation applies to WS-C3524-PWR-XL-EN.
For the WS-C3548-XL-EN this link:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps637/prod_eol_notice09186a008032d451.html
shows that the Standard Edition WS-C3548-XL-A is EOS and is replaced by the Enterprise Edition WS-C3548-XL-EN.
[edit] I looked a bit more and found this link:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps637/prod_eol_notice09186a008032d190.html
which does indicate that the WS-C3548-XL-EN is EOS and that the replacement is WS-C3550-48-EMI, WS-C3550-48-SMI, or WS-C2950G-48-EI as Gary indicates.
