Switch Stack ports down?

I have a stack of 4 switches. I can't figure out why two of the ports are down? SW1 port 2 connects to SW4 port 2. Is there a way to bring the port up? I read the guide on configuring stacks, but it makes it sound like the only time the ports would be down is b/c the cable is bad.

CiscoStack1#show switch stack-ports

  Switch #    Port 1       Port 2

  --------    ------       ------

    1           Ok          Down

    2           Ok           Ok

    3           Ok           Ok

    4           Ok          Down

CiscoStack1#show switch neighbors

  Switch #    Port 1       Port 2

  --------    ------       ------

      1         2            None

      2         1             3

      3         2             4

      4         3            None

CiscoStack1#show switch stack-ring speed

Stack Ring Speed        : 16G
Stack Ring Configuration: Half
Stack Ring Protocol     : StackWisePlus

Hi,

In most cases it is either bad cable or faulty stack port.

Test with another cable (e.g. take of of those that we see as Up connections) and if the ports come up, replace the cable. Otherwise test different port pair combination to find which is faulty  - on switch 1 or 4.

Nevermind. I figured out what the previous engineer got fired. I looked at the cables and they were all tight and snug, so I decided to pull the cable off to swap it. The genius never took the little rubber cap off the cable end.

A colleague and I just had a good laugh at your expense there abrrymnvette haha.  Can't believe that cable still fit with the cap still on!
