I just replaced a Supervisor32 module on a Catalyst 6506 switch after the old supervisor had a hardware failure.
Upone rebooting with the new card, the switch loads the IOS, indicates interfaces are administratively down (which would be normal), and then goes to the "Press Enter to Continue" prompt on the console.
All the 48 port ethernet cards indicate green for status, but ports are all amber. The supervisor32 is in the same state.
It has been at the prompt for about 45 minutes. Is this normal? What could be wrong?

That is not normal. They probably shipped you a bad sup. I would open a ticket with TAC and RMA the sup if they can't provide a solution.

Is there another SUP32 in the chassis? I'm not sure how much a stand-by supervisor would output on the console during boot-up but, if I remember correctly, it will not respond to user input (the active supervisor does that)...

That is what I though as well
turns out it was a putty issue. When consoled into the switch, putty would hang after the boot sequence every time.
I connected my mac and used the screen command and got right in
