Switch version compatibility in a stack

I would just like to know if the SW Version's between the switches are compatible or if we should upgrade/downgrade?

Don't use either.  Instead, upgrade to 12.2(55)SE6.

Before upgrading, can I please recommend you read the Release Notes of this IOS version you've choosen?  Can I also recommend that you lab this version?

All IOS-es have known issues.  It's just a question of "lesser of two evils", hence my recommendation to go through the Release Notes.  This will inform and prepare you what lies ahead with the version of your choice.
