Hi all, when we talk about a tagged frame, does this mean either 802.1p tagging or 802.1q tagging ? and will the ethertype be the same for both of these ?

Hi Carl,
Please take a look at the following link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.1Q
I think this will answer your question about the relation between 802.1p and 802.1q and the ethertype which is used.
regards,
Henk

it is the 802.1q frame. Ethertype value & 802.1p are carried in the 802.1q frame.
Refer this link for further reference:

802.1p is carried in the user priority field of .1q tag frame.
pls rate if helped.
