%Tar checksum error in fd 0 when trying to upgrade Aironet 1040 software

Hey,

This is been giving me a lot of issues, I tried HTTP/TFTP through the GUI via IP of the Aironet and those were all giving errors (Invalid file format, cannot find file etc...)

Now I am trying through Telnet (also tried through CLI via SSH but same error)

When I type the command archive download-sw /overwrite /reload tftp://location/image-name  get an error:

examining image...

Loading c1140-k9w7-tar.152-4.JA1.tar from IP address (via BVI1): !

%Tar checksum error in fd 0

ERROR: Failed to extract from archive file tftp://ip/filename

archive download: takes 1 seconds

I contacted Cisco many times, they keep sending me the new firmware but whenever I download it...the MD5 checksum does not match up with the one on Cisco's website. I tried downloading it on multiple computers and different networks but the MD5 checksum of the file is always different from the one listed on Cisco's website.

Hi @ggill I have faced the same error yesterday as shown below
while changing the mode from lightweight to autonomous

I Hope you have found the solution
if not yet, you can try this
in the TFTP application (if you are using Tftp64 by Ph. Jounin) set the the path exact where you dowloaded the iso and make sure the path is same in both current directory and base directory
it worked for me
I hope it will work for you also

from the settings you can find Base directory also
